In a lengthy post, Astorino said that Westchester is “better and stronger today than when (he) arrived,” in 2009 when he first took office.

During his eight years, Astorino’s administration helped create 44,000 new private sector jobs, he said, creating the opportunities for thousands of new jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars in new revenue in the process. He also touted the revitalization of Playland and the unique public-private partnership for the Westchester County Airport that was finalized during his final year in office.

“My promise was to stop the tax and spend madness, grow our economy and make sure we always provide essential services for those in need,” he wrote. “We did all of that and so much more without ever having raised the tax levy.”
